“Smile Design and Esthetic Periodontal Therapy”

Dr. Michael SONICK - (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)

Comprehensive treatment planning of the aesthetic restorative case can be challenging. Ideal treatment involves treatment of the teeth, gingiva and bone. The key to success is to understand and develop predictable strategies in patient care. What works and doesn’t work?
Dr. Sonick will discuss the thought process, communication methods and techniques necessary in order to achieve ideal esthetic and healthy prosthetic reconstruction of the maxillary anterior region. Included will be a discussion of the following:
• Diagnosis of tooth size and gingival architecture discrepancies
• Parameters for dental – gingival esthetics
• Digital Smile Design
• Sequencing restorative and surgical treatment
• Esthetic crown lengthening and gingival augmentation techniques

“FMR : Practical Steps to Providing Amazing Results - Implants Aesthetics and Occlusion”

Dr. Dean VAFIADIS (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)

Full Mouth Rehabilitation (FMR) is a very complicated treatment plan that requires many disciplines. Many clinicians try to develop these skills but never really complete the process. Believing that our patients need this approach and that many of them have “Occlusal Disease” is the first step to recognizing the need for “FMR”. Since our dental school education, we were always told that “we could not open the bite”. Many clinicians avoided treating the collapsed Vertical Dimensions, others had great success. This program will help de-mystify with practical methods in a Step-by-Step approach of how to restore OVD position up to 10 mm. The long-term success of these patients with these techniques has been documented and recorded both radio-graphically and photographically with up to 15 year results. Using sound prosthodontic principles and digital analysis, these OVD restorations can become standard in our private practice. Utilizing implants aesthetics and occlusion for FMR will further enhance our understanding to help our patients get the best treatment possible. Anterior determinants and posterior determinants can show us the way through the ideal FMR approach.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this lecture the participant will understand the advantages and disadvantages of:
• Determining new approach to FMR
• Utilizing provisionals to confirm new OVD position
• Anterior and Posterior Determinants for OVD
• Classification of the Full Mouth Rehabilitation patient
• Techniques using CT scans of TMJ Joint for OVD Maintenance

“Single Tooth Implant Replacement: Minimally Invasive Approach to Achieve Long Term Esthetic Results In the Anterior Zone”

Dr. Francesco AMATO - (1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

The topic of the lecture is the Implant replacement of single tooth in the anterior maxillary area: What is the best treatment to choose in order to obtain an ideal esthetic result with minimally invasive approach.
Three different clinical situations will be described:
Type 1. Clinical cases were the alveolar bone is intact.
Type 2. Clinical cases were a periapical lesion is present.
Type 3. Clinical cases were both the alveolar bone is compromised by the periodontal disease.
Diagnosis, treatment plan, timing and treatment options will be discuss for each category focusing on: immediate vs delayed implant placement, implant selection, hard and soft tissue management both surgical and orthodontical, different augmentation procedures, type of graft, and characteristics of provisionalization for tissue conditioning.
Pros and cons of each therapeutic line will be analyzed.
Clinical experience and evidence based decision will be combined in order to give the clinician practical guidelines to achieve predictable esthetic results.

“Current Approaches for Partial Restorations: The Role and Technique of Composite Resins”

Dr. Ronaldo HIRATA - ( 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)

Ceramics, direct composites, and indirect composites, are the materials of modern restorative dentistry. A number of approaches can be described when using these materials for internal or partial coverage restorations. The use of low shrinkage composites and restorations fabricated on silicon models are two of the more interesting clinical applications of this material. This presentation will include laboratory hands-on and instructional videos demonstrating the clinical protocols for the use of this new composite technique.
Learning Objectives:
1- Modern approaches to partial coverage restorations
2- Indications for ceramic usage in day to day practice
3- The scientific basis for the behavior of the low shinkage composite
4- A simplified strategy for using low shrinkage composites in traditional composite technique
5- The techniques and advantages of using composites for silicon model indirect restorations
