Dr. Michael Sonick is a full-time practicing periodontist and implant surgeon. A renowned educator, author and clinical researcher, he is a guest lecturer for the International Dental Program at New York University School of Dentistry and the periodontal residency program at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, a former clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, and a frequent lecturer on periodontics, dental implants and practice management for educational programs around the world.

Educator

Locally, he is the founder and director of the Fairfield County Dental Club, an advanced continuing education organization that provides courses on the latest developments in dentistry to clinicians and their staff. Dr. Sonick is also the founder and director of Sonick Seminars, LLC, a multidisciplinary teaching institute located in his clinical office and teaching center. He is editor of the textbook Implant Site Development, which has been translated into both Spanish and Chinese.

Courses are given on all surgical aspects of periodontics and implant dentistry. Unique to this program is the three-part continuum: dentists get to observe live surgery, participate during the hands-on portion and attend lectures.

Professional Activities, Awards & Distinctions

Dr. Sonick serves on the editorial review boards of Inside Dentistry, Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry, Functional Esthetics and Restorative Dentistry, Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry, and Dental XP. He frequently contributes to dental literature in the area of periodontal surgical techniques, aesthetics, dental implants, bone grafting, gingival grafting and radiographic protocols for predictable implant placement. His international contributions have been recognized through various awards, including an honorary membership in the Indian Society of Periodontists, fellowship in the American College of Dentists, fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Society and a member of Who’s Who in Dentistry. The general dental practice residents at Yale New Haven Hospital also awarded Dr. Michael Sonick the honor of “Teacher of the Year.”
